Does anyone take a bath
Can you bathe with your bag on? I used to love soaking in a tub of hot water... but since my ileostomy I have not done this. Does bathing bother the bag or make it not adhere as well?

You'll never know unless you try. If you want to experiment take a bath right before you change pouches. You can also use brave strips to give you extra security. I use the Mio one piece and I can submerge it in the tub without problem. I don't know how other brands do because I have only had experience with the Mio. Have had my colostomy for two years.

I have the mio sensors one piece and use brava strips. I guess I will give it a try. I so miss my soaks!

I try to keep my wafer out of the water when I take a bath. It's not the water--I swim with no problems--it's the heat that can affect adhesion.

I often get in a hot tub, seems to make the flange stick better.
The adhesives are formulated to work at body temperature so it is my theory that the heat will make it stick better.
Like Doorie says, give it a try, If you never come to bat you will never strike out, but what fun is that??

Jimbob,
that's interesting; I was told not to hot tub. Maybe I'll give it a shot and see what happens.

At home I really don't care for baths and shower. But during my annual trips to Japan, I often take a bath either in my hotel room's bathtub or an onsen which sometimes can be quite hot....never had any problem with pouch adhesion. I use Convatec two-piece Natura....

I have been in a hot tub many times with my ostomy. After prolonged time, the edges can get”soft”, but they dry with no problem. I don’t take baths because I don’t want to sit in my own filth! I much prefer a shower! Hop in, you will more than likely be fine.

Awesome for you. How did your pouch h hold up?
Re: Does anyone take a bath
Good for you! I usually take showers also. I must clean my tub so I can do the same! It sounds as though you are coming along pretty well. Yes?

I hot tub and swim a lot with my 2 piece, no issues. Although my old system would never have lasted 5 min in a hot tub
Re: Does anyone take a bath
From personal experience, I would take my bath and soak to my heart's content but just before I would do a bag change. The seal would definitely loosen, so it may not be recommended if you just put on a new bag. I was always lucky that the seal didn't lift entirely to let the contents out. Once out of the tub, the bag and seal came off very easily. I used the convatec products..
