Kpouch Valve Problem

Post by thomasfincher »

I received my first kock pouch in 1981, then had a total redo at Cleveland Clinic in 2006. I am now having problems inserting my catheter especially when in a sitting position.
The 2006 surgery was performed by Dr. Fazio, who is no longer seeing patients. Because I live in Alabama, I will travel a great distance no matter where I go. I feel that the problem is with the valve, and surgery will be needed. Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem in recent years, and would share any updated information with me as to where they had their surgery and who performed it. Also wonder if there are new and better procedures to hold the valve in place since 2006.

Thanks,
Tom

Oh I feel for you, as surgeons are difficult to find. I know Dr Dietz at the CC trained by Dr Fazio is doing new and repairs. Some of members in another online group at http://www.jpouch.org (K-Pouch Korner) you can peruse posts and ask questions and/or PM a member. We also have a facebook group for continent ostomies at https://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/30300094937/ if you'd like to join. There is a member there who just had her long term KP repaired by Dr Dietz at CC.

Best to you, Janice
