Pain in butt - ? stump

Post by val »

I have had a perm ileostomy for 6 years now. 2 inch rectal stump which gets washed out weekly. Still get crazy urges there. For 3 days i have had bad rectal spasms and foul pus like brownish stuff passing with or without washout. Whats up there? anybody had this? It took me years to get used to this life with a bag, and i ve had so much drama over the years, that i dont feel like any more setbacks, i have had my share!! Please any advice will be welcome.
thanks

As long as the the rectum is intact it continues to make mucous and it has to go somewhere, this is known as a "Diversion Reaction" and everybody has different degrees of it. But it should NOT be causing you pain or puss, I suggest you see your physician, you could have a soft tissue infection. The urges are most likely coming from the mucous build up in your rectum telling you that you have to "go"
