Ostomy Supplies Co-Pay

Hello,
Have been a "user" of these supplies since 1995, and will have for the remainder of my life. For the past two years, my co-pay for these durable goods, have increased, they are now $240.00 month. From 1995 to 2013 - I had 0 co-pay. I accept a co-pay but find $240.00 monthly charge for these essential supplies as excessive. I would like to know what others have been experiencing. My health insurance is thru my employer, but I can switch to Medicare. Would like to hear from others about this. Thank you -

I am on a medicare advantage plan BUT with the cost of medicare (it isn't free) and the advantage part and the fact that my former employer is only paying 63% of my base cost I will be paying over $400 a month next year just on premiums! At the same time my copay is extremely low and that will be covered the first month after which my supplies will run about $10 a month. With these figures you actually appear to have the better deal than. My point is that you need to consider all of your costs - premium, copay, deductible and perhaps most importantly how well does your insurance cover your needs to really evaluate your insurance coverage.

I'm in original Medicare - the monthly premium is $100 and change, not sure what it will be in 2016 - and there is an annual deductible of about $160. I also have a supplementary policy from my former employer that pays the remaining 20% and that policy is only a few dollars a month. So if I have other medical bills that use up my deductible before I order my ostomy supplies I have nothing to pay except a small annual deductible from my supplementary....

So it depends on what type of Medicare plan you will have.....you have to do the math for yourself...

My medicare part B is just over $100 and I have a supplement which is just over $200 so I am paying over $300 in premiums but I have no co-pays. But, as others have said, you need to do the math on your own personal needs to see how it shakes out for you.
