Sometimes you just need to share something and when you look around you think, who can I say that to and they get it and / or they are not offended.
OK it has been 10 months since I got my ostomy. Some of you know that when you haven't had any bowel removed that sorta mucus leaks out .Also had bladder cancer removed in October. Ok so here is the punch line. ...
A couple of days ago I stood up and peed. Nothing else. Like doing it as a kid for the first time! I was so excited about it that while I knew it was working, I went out in the backyard and did it again outdoors. Just so that if the next surgery or treatment causes me not to be able to do that without worrying that something was going to happen BAD, I will have PEE- PEED standing. And even outdoors.
See, who can you say that to?
Thanks for listening folks. ..I'll be here all night. .

daddy57,
Good .....LOL......makes you feel normal. Do it again......and again.....and every day. I would. I got enough trees here to have a different one every day and not run out.
And you are right not much humor on here since cancer and other problems resulting in ostomies are not fun. I tried a couple of times but to no avail. The only good thing I can say that keeps me going is "the cancer is gone".
Anything to feel normal.

Hi daddy57
Although I have not had that particular experience, I agree with bagger that it is wonderful when you start to feel normal again, and it seems that the clouds are parting and the sun is starting to shine through. Many happy standing-up-and-going experiences from now on!

Re: Is humor and ostomy mutually exclusive?
I knew it was too good to be true for long. Antibiotics not working miricals and the flomax helps on some days. I was just so excited to be able to feel like I used to, even if it was just for a few days. Ever since the first bladder infectionss in September that has caused more personal problems than the ostomy. Then they found the cancer in my bladder and preformed surgery. Immediately followed by my chemo and radiation therapy. Digestion hasn't been the same since. I have posted several times about all the trouble I go through to reduce gas, partly due to embarrassment around executive types, but mostly because the gas sets off a painful reaction in my bladder. Pre-OP tomorrow with a "final decision "on what they will be able to save. Not getting my hopes up for a reconnect, which is why your opinion and comments are so important right now. I am grateful to be alive, but someday I would like to eat food that isn't Boost, oatmeal and crackers. Thank y'all for listening.

Lloyd, sorry to hear of all your troubles. Don't give up - someday you'll be able to eat a bigger variety of food and have better digestion. You've probably given an update on your situation in the general discussion section. All the best,

I try to have humor with everything in life. Having 2 Ostomies it can be very stressful at times. I joke every time I get a chance to because life is too short to not laugh.
Hope you are doing better by now .... thinking of you!
