Re: "S-Pouch" anyone???
I have an S-Pouch done in 2010 and it has been a dream. Best decision I ever made! I eat anything I want without issue (including popcorn, meat, corn etc.) just have to manage portion size - smaller meals more often are better. Eat less to go less (out on a boat fishing example). Never had a blockage. No pouchitis ever. Have had follow-ups every three years since with no concerns noted. Check out Dr. Bruce Harms, UW Madison.
Re: "S-Pouch" anyone???
Hello, I had my S pouch installed in 1987. I went through the same painful challenges listed in previous posts, however my valve did not work so I started using a 32 French catheter to evacuate my pouch. It works great. Obviously you need to wash it after each h use, but it has allowed me to live a very normal and rewarding life.
I have taken them from California to Afghanistan.
I use Balneol perinatal cream for those days when the acid level gets to me. The only drawback is leaking.
That has always been an issue especially at night. I wear a "pad" to try and prevent it. My Dr. Told me that the J pouch may not hold it in as one ages so my situation seems to benefit me as I get older. 30 years, wow, I hope it lasts 30 more.
