Rod/bridge -ileostomy

Post by DMKRN »

Did anyone have a temporary rod with your ileostomy? I have someone 4 days post op and it was accidentally removed. Surgeon says it should fine that ideally they leave for up to 2 weeks. Just seeing if anyone else has any experience or thoughts? Is it sutured as well? Any info would be great. It continues to be budded above skin and functioning well. Looking to give them some reassurance.

My husband had a rod for 7 days in his ileostomy. It was sutured in and in our experience was quite irritating - tunneling into the skin so I'd say, good riddance!

You are referring to leakage in the seal between the appliance and you skin?

I did and asked for it to be removed after 3 days because it hurt. NO issues.
