Convatec 125270 flange plus other items on backorder

Post by Mara »

Just as an fyi for those of you who use Convatec supplies. I recently re-ordered my flanges and pouches. When I received my order minus the flanges, after a number of phone calls to my supplier and Convatec I found my flange was on backorder with no date for when they will be available.....

The Convatec rep assured me my flange wasn't discontinued - my first thought - and that a number of other items were on backorder...

I had the bad luck to order online for the first time ever....lol...but when I called, the supplier's rep said they might not have known about the backorder even if I spoke to a person.

Since I am shortly going to be out of the country for two months I couldn't wait patiently to see what will happen. After a couple of calls to other suppliers who also had no availability, I found an online supplier and my order is supposedly soon to be delivered.

So just make sure if you are really down to the last week of supplies that your supplier has them in stock....

Thanks for the tip, Mara. I contacted my own supplier this am. It's personalized help like this from our Board that keeps us functioning independently. May your own supplies arrive soon & all the best for your upcoming trip.

Thanks for your encouragement, sassie and To Dream a Dream.... I ordered on Monday afternoon from the online supplier and received the package this morning....
I remember some people had supply problems after the Puerto Rico disaster but haven't heard much since then....
Here's hoping that others don't have these issues....as sassie said we need our supplies.....

I'm glad you found what you needed! Isn't it always when you can't wait.

I had problems with one product during the hurricane/PR period. I will say the Convatec people bent over backwards to help as much as possible. I also grabbed what I needed on eBay. I could suck that up without insurance once or twice.

Thanks for sharing the details!

You're welcome, NEskier....so it was you with the earlier issue with backorder.....

The Convatec rep I spoke with was quite helpful. She did send me out samples of the next larger stoma opening size flange which I could probably use in an emergency....and she told me about another type flange but that one would not fit the pouches I had already received....

All in all, I think if I had called rather than ordered online I would have found out about the backorder sooner....and of course if I wasn't getting ready to go away I could have waited....
