Leak Proof Underwear?

Post by Phoenix0917 »

I will be traveling thru Europe for a month and I will be staying with some friends. One of my only real fears of having an ostomy is if it will leak when sleeping in a bed at a friends. Does anyone know of underwear that is leak resistant so if I did have a leak it would most likely stop there vs the bed and blankets?

I don't, but there are plastic mattress covers. You might consider one of those. If you're staying with friends, I'm sure they would understand if you wanted to put some "insurance" between you and the mattress... Sheets and blankets can be easily washed, but mattresses are another story. Are leaks an issue for you? If so, maybe there are tips and suggestions we could give you to help with those. I've had leaks, but knock on wood, they have never been in bed.

Might also consider disposable or reusable bed underpads. I used to use them when I visited friends, however since they were never needed, I stopped.
