Strange Changes to Hollister transparent bags

Post by dnvrdave »

Hollister just changed the material in the transparent closed end colostomy pouch, e.g. item 18364. The material is more transparent and noisier (crinkly) and seems like it will puncture easier. Do you know why they did this? Maybe it's compostable now (joke, I think)? Just trying to increase profits, probably.

The opaque bags changed as well. And yes, they make much more noise than what was being used. My last order of pouches came with an informational insert in the box to explain the changes. It said all of the things that you would expect a corporation to say about their product: cost efficient, better production, better reliability, blah, blah, blah.
I'm sure they just found a more cost effective way to sell their product and didn't do any real customer assessment. I don't particularly care for the change, but it's not a deal breaker for me at this time. Now, the first box of pouches I went through, the filters did not seem to be working at all. The second box is doing much better, so hopefully that was just an anomaly. Non-working filters (I know they aren't 100%) could be a deal breaker for me as I appreciate it when my filter is working as it should.

Hollister has really cheaped out in their new lines, very sad. I showed my husband the difference in what I used to use to what they want me to switch to, he couldn't believe it. so frustrating.

I am not impressed with Hollister's new line. The gas passer bags are a joke, sometimes I only got 10 mins with a new bag. My stoma is in a direct line with the filter. Sometimes when I pass gas, fecal matter will also come out and hit that filter head on. It does not take much before the filter is clogged and not working.

Hollister has lost me as a customer after 10+ years as a customer. I now use Coloplast.
