Hydrocolloid, tight pants, new sore spot

Post by ileo73 »

I'm at the office and about to leave at 5 PM today. For some reason, I pressed lightly on my ostomy towards the top. Feels a bit tender. I duck into a men's room to change Stupid. Yep, a little spot smaller than a dime. The hydrocolloid at the very top of the wafer responded to a skin tear by expanding, pushing into the tear. Superficial but bleeding merrily.

So I have to decide, Hydrofera Blue or Mepilex Lite. Hydrofera Blue got a recurring granulation tissue issue under control but if it's too heavy a dressing for the skin can be uncomfortable by itself. If I go for Mepilex and thing is too sleepy or weepy, irritation persists. I figure I'm changing Friday morning before flying out Saturday, safer with Hydrofera.

And when I get home, first thing is I change my pants, I was wearing a newer pair that felt a little snug in waistband but I could still get my hand in the waist. Not sure if tender spot above sore spot, or sore itself, due to pants but changing to more comfortable couldn't hurt.

Sheesh. Still tender if I press on spot (I know, don't press on it) but otherwise no issues. No seeping through dressing, no discomfort moving around. Let's see how I feel in the morning and how it looks on Friday. Unless it's sore in the morning so I may change to try lighter dressing.
