Ostomy reversal help scared.

Post by sbysteve45 »

Guys Stephen here again. I am having illeostomy reversal surgery in 2 weeks. Took me forever to get the surgeon to do it while on TPN only no eating. I am scared out of my mind. Will I be able to have bowl movements while being on TPN still after reversal. I Will not be able to eat anything. My TPN doc won't stop TPN not anytime soon. I gained over 45 pounds while being on TPN so far. has anyone ever been on the TPN after reversal. I am also nervous about connection failing apart. Also my family doc wants me to go to rehab for 30 days after reversal. Respond thanks all.

Can't really answer your question, but (((Stephen))) to you. I have a permanent colostomy, and am very happy with my decision. Radiation destroyed most of my rectal muscles, thus I was tied to the toilet anytime I ate. Because I had 2 young kids at that time, many days I did not eat until I was home for the day, usually 3 or 4 in the afternoon. Believe me, getting the bag gave me my life back.

From what I understand, reversals can be a challenge, especially in the beginning. Take it one days at a time, look at the progress over a week, not on a day to day basis. And be patient with yourself. Guess you will have good days and bad days. Thus one day at a time.

Good luck,
