Video about Rectal Cancer Surgery

I have no idea if this will interest anybody....I found this video on the English language Japanese TV station - NHK World - which I watch all the time. A Japanese doctor describes his surgery for removing cancer from the anus and not having to remove the anus or create a stoma. I don't know if this surgery is widely available but it seemed interesting to me even though I have had an ileostomy for over 50 years...lol....

I watch the video a number of times. My current situation is the same as the gentleman he operated on 2 1/2 cm from anal veer.Does anyone in North America do this especially in Canada? I’m gonna bring this to the attention of my surgical team at Mount Sinai/princess Margaret and Toronto.

Hi Everyone,

I am an ostomate with permanent colostomy since December 23, 2019 (Merry Christmas to me!) due to recurrent anal cancer post chemo and radiation. Despite followup post surgery at 3 months, my CEA was up to 8.3 and by PET scan, the cancer had already spread to my liver. I am now undergoing immunotherapy with Keytruda.

I wish I had seen this video back at the end of last year (2019). I might not have then become acquainted with Miss Piggy! Now I will have to wait for Dr. Okudi (?) to come up with a reversal procedure!!
