Hi all,
Does anyone use the Coloplast High-Output pouch? I generally veer toward Convatec or Hollister but Coloplast's are much bigger -- a plus for me despite its higher "visibility." However, there is sort of an indoor pouch or pocket inside the Coloplast pouch. It's mentioned here briefly without explanation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vwNBFrfrLvc I don't know if pulling this part apart will tear the pouch. Will try to call Coloplast later. Just wondered if anyone knew. That pocket or pouch prevents output from going down to the pouch's bottom and I just don't understand it. Thank you. Stay well!

Re: Coloplast High-Output Pouches
Hi, Diane!
I've been using the high output pouches for over 6 months and I LOVE them! Are you asking about the little slit like pocket at the bottom? That is where you tuck the end of the spout and I've never had one split. You turn flip the spout upwards and tuck into the slot. It keeps output from filling in the spout. The slit is actually just made in the outside cover material. The top pocket area is just to view the area. I hope this helps.

Re: Coloplast High-Output Pouches
Hi ChrisC,
Many thanks but no -- about 1-2 inches below the opening for the stoma, inside, the 2 sides of the pouch seem to adhere together. Stool gets caught there unless it can flow around that part of the "seam" (?) that has the 2 sides of the pouch stuck together. This is obviously for a reason but I don't know why. If I pull it apart, I'm afraid I'll ruin the pouch. Coloplast makes the largest of the high-output pouches but I need to know how to get around this difficulty. I will try to reach a rep there.
Many thanks!

Re: Coloplast High-Output Pouches
Hi ChrisC and others,
I called Coloplast and spoke with a product specialist. Inside the high output pouch, the front and back of the pouch come together in the first third of it below a flap that contains the filter. The purpose is to prevent it from ballooning and getting too full with air and stool. However, at this very juncture, my stool gets stuck and then pancakes. They are sending me a couple of samples to try again. No other manufacturer makes such a large pouch and that is what I like. I'll see if I can manage to push the contents down -- esp at night. If not, I'll be sticking with Convatec or Hollister.
Thanks! Be safe.

Re: Coloplast High-Output Pouches
I have been using these pouches for many years and love them. I have that problem when my output is thicker. When that happens, I use a little water, close the spout and massage for just a minute and then empty. I do better if my output is thinner so I only have to do this once every day or two. Good Luck!

Re: Coloplast High-Output Pouches
Many thanks, Lerbus. I just received samples to try again before I switch my order to Convatec or Hollister. Yes, that would definitely help but can be a challenge when in bed and sleeping. I did get a large wedge pillow (2 actually) to keep me upright at night but I'm not finding that the pillow really helps to "slide" the effluent down. I can try the deo/lubricating product or a small bit of olive or other oil. I did find that the lubricating liquid -- even if I used a small bit -- seeped out of the pouch at the bottom -- or would slide out of the spout of the high-output pouch as soon as I unplugged the spout.
I did get a sample somewhere of Pearls -- which are like Diamonds. Not the gems. I prefer Pearls by far. That product causes the "effluent" to become a sort of gel in the pouch. Diamonds seems to have charcoal and the surrounding material and the charcoal can gum up the works in a high-output ostomy pouch if you keep the spout on -- and I do. I'll be putting an order in soon but doubt Pearls is covered by insurance. It's a great product -- and I probably should have started a new thread. Interesting that both products refer to jewelry!
Thanks again!
