mal-absorption with ileostomy

Post by Oldenough »

I had an end ileostomy in June 2020 and completed rectum/anal removal in September 2020. Since then I have had increasing joint pain and overall stiffness I didn't have before. I keep thinking it's from not getting enough of something but don't know what. Any idea what I might be lacking?

Hi Oldenough i,ve had an ilieo. for 30 some years and when i,m feeling stiff and achy its usually a sign of being dehydrated, but in your case i would ask your doctor to do a blood workup to see if there,s anything specific your lacking.

With joint pain, I would suggest making an appointment with a rheumatologist. There sometimes is an association of arthritis with ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease.
