J pouch/ileostomy and whipple
Hello I’m am a new member to the forum. I’m 48 years old and was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis in 2007. I had j pouch surgery in 2016 and had problems with the pouch from day one. Pouchitis, cuffitis, gas, urgency, etc. I have had to take cipro and flagyl pretty much every day since the surgery in 2016. As if that wasn’t enough, in November of 2020, my gi doc found a small ulcer in my duodenum that turned out to be cancerous. This required a whipple surgery. I was contemplating having the pouch removed and going to a permanent ostomy even before the cancer diagnosis. Now that I have had some time to heal from the whipple surgery I am back to trying to decide whether to go with a permanent ostomy. I know this is a fairly unique situation but wanted to see if any other forum members might have had similar experiences that could give me some guidance. Thanks
