Helluva subject line, eh?
Didn’t even touch on the fact I spent two weeks out of town for an emergency. The first week visiting my mother while she awaited surgery and planned her rehab, the second week arranging her funeral. Bad time.
So today I’m back home and have my usual breakfast the past several months - oatmeal and peanut butter. Except what happens, maybe from heat wave, maybe from not having had it, maybe from stress, is that oatmeal blows out ostomy- twice! So I’ve had three changes counting regularly scheduled one this morning and I can now see skin bleeding a little under tape barrier.
Meanwhile, I’m also trying to reorder supplies. But since work changed my insurance, I have to call my supplier to give them new insurance number. Extended wait times. I call three times - once to put in a number for a callback I never got, once to be disconnected, and third time worked.
A few more days like this and I can retire at 70 while only being 55…

Re: Oatmeal, Blood and Hold Times
Oatmeal has recently become a problem for me. I wonder if they changed the formula.

I use original, not instant, oatmeal. I cook it slowly in the microwave - I just looked - the directions on the package say cook 3 minutes on high.....I cook it for about 15 minutes altogether - on high, then medium, then low - it comes out very easily digestible for me. Also have never used steel-cut....

Re: Oatmeal, Blood and Hold Times
I like microwaved old fashioned oatmeal, but it gives me serious diarrhea every time lately.
Maybe try quick oats, which have the bran removed.

Re: Oatmeal, Blood and Hold Times
This was the stuff I'd been having nigh every day for months. So probably a one-off due to hot weather or my being dehydrated.

Re: Oatmeal, Blood and Hold Times
Hi all i,ve never been able to tolerate oatmeal, one of my favorite meals as a kid especially during cold weather and now with an ilieo. it always felt like i swallowed a brick and gave me a bloated feeling, i had a resection done a couple years ago so i thought i would try some after that but no luck.
Re: Oatmeal, Blood and Hold Times
I use one-minute oatmeal, which I cook for 2 minutes to make it more digestible. But I really can't eat it without maple syrup.
