Proctoscopy Vs Sigmoidoscopy

Post by BWilson »

My gastroenterologist wants to do a sigmoidoscopy of my rectal stump. After having a ileostomy and colectomy, I only have 7 inches of rectum left. Any idea of why a proctoscopy wouldn't be simpler? It wouldn't require sedation as I am a paraplegic (spina bifida) and have no sensation below my midsection.
