Hello All
I am here to try and find support and answers to my 100's of questions.
Over the past 8 years I have had numerous procedures in an attempt to close a fistula that was the outcome of a rectal abscess emergency surgery. I have successfully had 2 closed but took may attempts, different surgeons and solutions.
My current rectovaginal fistula I have had for 2 years. I don't want live with the need to shower 10 min after every BM. As I age, I realize that my care would be uncomfortable and difficult for my wife.
My best colo rectal specialist is recommending a temporary Ileostomy. Other surgeons have told me they would not be comfortable doing the procedure due to my size ( I weigh just under 300). I am looking to understand the pre/post dietary restrictions as well as the actual day to day life issues. I live in So Cal and love to bike/swim ect....so feeling very uneasy.
Anyone willing to discuss their experience with a temp Ileostomy? Thanks in advance. I too am sending white healing light to all on this discussion board.

Re: Unresolved Rectovaginal fistula - now leading to temp Ileostomy
Hi, I weigh the same and got a temporary ileostomy in July. It was this or die. To be honest it was hard at first, and there are some difficult days. But there's also times that I forget I even have it. Dietary restrictions are rather simple atleast for me. Eat what I can tolerate. Have hope!
