New Ostomate Still Having Accidents :/

Post by bon »

I just had loop ileostomy surgery about 10 days ago. Before my surgery my biggest symptom was having accidents because my colon is too inflamed to hold anything in. I thought, logically, this would be the first symptom to go after surgery BUT I'm still having accidents, although now it's not stool but the mucus that my colon is still producing despite having nothing going through it. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there any hope to live a life with out accidents? It's been really frustrating to have this lingering symptom which is getting in the way of me living my life.

I had that as well and it seemed to happen once a month for about 3 months. It stopped after that so it was just temporary.

It's fairly common, and there have been a few threads about it. Here's a link to the search for it

this thread is a few years old hope it is still available to me.

I have constant mucus discharge from my stump. No one has been able to give me any answers or help me with it.

Are you still experiencing this discharge? What have you been able to do about it and have you found help?

I have been experiencing it for two years and it is worse now. Bloody a lot. I have NO clue why. I need help. Thank you for your article and I am praying for help. Klancee
