Gas and blowouts
Lets talk about night time gas and pouch blow outs. I have a 20 yr old ileostomy and use Cymed 1-piece, pre-cut pouches. Recently I have had a large amount of night time gas and even blown off a pouch (or 2 or 3...) without waking up until I felt the wet. I am overweight and really trying to lose some weight. Can anyone recommend some food/eating habits/supplements, or really anything that might help. I usually get up around 3-4 AM to pee and empty but it would be nice not to have a balloon half filled with some nasty stuck on my belly. Thanks for suggestions and stories.

Re: Gas and blowouts
Okay I'll try to help.
Diet and eating time will affect gas and nighttime dumping/blowouts.
For instance I'll eat early am until about 3 pm, small nutritious meals. Then only a small snack afterwards until morning.
Then there are certain foods that contribute to gas and excessive output that can be controlled via diet.

Next I'll have to ask, if you've had this for so many years and haven't licked the process to avoid blowouts and gas...
Maybe it's a body shape change and you need to rethink your approach and appliance type.
Belly folds are tough, especially with a recessed or near flush stoma like what I have.
But I'm determined to experiment and try different ideas to beat this thing once and for all.
