Checking in after surgery, where is everyone?

Post by Mikem »

I know the forum has slowed down considerably since covid, but 5 months since the last post? Wondering if I have missed something and if there is a better forum. Been gone for 5 months after a couple of surgeries which included mesh installation for an overly mobile colon which did not want to stay inside the abdominal cavity.

Surgery was complicated by scar tissue which, in the doctors terminology, meant I got stabbed 9 times rather then just 5 as originally planned for the orthoscopic surgery. At least I wasn't opened up completely.

So I am on gator sabbatical for 6 months waiting for the mesh to be fully set. I did sneak in a couple of very successful irrigation sessions over the holidays when out for an extended visit. 7 more weeks to go.

While I am on gatorless vacation I am checking out Coloplast products and have found the SenSura Mio 2 piece an excellent product. Their flange/barrier has an excellent wear time and the pouch has an excellent pouch with superior discharge design. When I first checked out Coloplast I was not impressed by their Click lock. Seemed too fiddley. Now, after getting used to it, if I could not irrigate I would switch from Hollister. Unfortunately the Mio line does not support a viable irrigation option. Their only sleeve is a one use stick on option which is 8 inches longer then the Hollister and Convaltec sleeves. Seems like a deliberate choice to discourage irrigation. Bummer.

Hope all is well with the gator community. I will try not to be a stranger but let me know if everyone has moved on.

I'm still here Mike. I don't know of any other forums, but I think some facebook groups have popped up. I think there are a lot of folks who read the forums and get information they need without needing to ask questions. Unfortunately, some of our more prolific posters from the past have passed away as well. Hope that you continue to heal up without any troubles.
