Feels so goooood having a fresh bag on

Post by Shamrock4806 »

There might be a very slight irritation on leak burns with a fresh bag, but it soon disappears for a nice happy bag that I just can forget about it for awhile.

Sometimes it's a couple of days, but today it was only 24 hours. So instead of suffering with the little annoying itching, pushing around trying to determine if it's really pain in feeling or not, I just decided to go ahead and replace it.

So my bag turnover hasn't been great, two days max now and I'll skip a shower, do both together. Leak burns are very small because of it. They get bigger if I suffer for another day.

It's going to cost me more in ostomy supplies that's for sure. I really wish I could extend the time but about 3 days the bag gets so dam nasty anyway.

The barrier adhesive begins to ache even without a leak, I'm not happy. 😢

My stoma is sticking out fine now, but it's still in a body fold and I have a grameolma on the right edge of the stoma I've been protecting.

I'm really not happy with my bag wear time and even if I went two piece the wafer begins to ache day 3 anyway so doesn't make sense to part with my one piece.

If I can make my wafer last 5 days without pain then I'll switch over to a two piece system but again belly folds are a real pain.

Any suggestions I would appreciate it.

I seriously think that no ostomy company has gotten the belly fold issue resolved really, it will require something totally different that would throw off the manufacturing process.

What I'm currently doing is putting on a huge amount of thick paste to basically surround the.stoma and only allow an exit out the top or if it pressure pushed the top layer of paste away but the lower paste still sticks hard to the skin protecting it.

That and weakening the wafer horizontally so it bends with my body fold when I bend and the paste bends as well.

It doesn't have to bend much, I don't touch my toes or anything like that, just when I get up or sit is just fine with me. Seem to be working for the most part however I do notice longer lasting results if the paste comes out of the tube thick than more fluid like. It's not much of a difference but I can tell now right away if I'll have a one or two days bag verses a 2:or 3 day bag. Just by the thickness of the paste.

Yep, way way too much paste, had another blowout today. Caused by eating tomatoes in a pasta sauce unfortunately. Thank God for barrier strips. 😆

So I'm back to my previous routine, three thick bead rings around the wafer hole and half bead skin side right next to the stoma to ensure it's sticking. I even stick my butter knife up there to ensure the output flows into the bag and not pressured sideways through the paste barrier.

Powerful stoma, it is - yoda
