Hello All,
Ive been using Hollister since 1994 and for the last two weeks I am struggling big time with the product on my skin. I use their Conform2 Convex with Tape and my skin has inflamed around the tape and become very cross and weepy. I had managed to cut the tape off and restore the skin but (and this might be where you eye-roll) I tried a new batch of my same product and it has recurred.
Is anyone else having this problem with Hollister tape products recently?
Thank you

Re: Hollister Recipe Change 2026
It's a common problem that people have with the adhesive they use, it's likely best to switch to another ostomy product like Coloplast or ConvaTec.
I personally prefer Coloplast myself after trying out the other two.

Re: Hollister Recipe Change 2026
In the past, when I used a flange with a tape collar, I would get blistering on the edges of the flange. Not under the flange, but just the skin around the tape collar that was NOT covered by the flange. I finally realized that the tape was so adhesive, that it was causing micro shearing of the skin next to the flange when I moved throughout the day. The tape did not allow for some movement, and would pull on the skin, causing what looked like a blister. Under the flange, skin was fine, it was just around the border. I had to switch to a full hydrocolloid flange. When I did, the blistering disappeared. Keep in mind that I was a fairly large man with a substantial parastomal hernia that would pull and tug on the skin around the flange all day long. Have you had any weight changes that have crept up on you? That might possibly explain what you are describing. Hope that gives you some useful information, and you find a solution. Weepy skin is the worst!

Thanks to you all for taking the time to reply. I really appreciate it. @To DreamADream - thanks for the welcome. Sometimes its like Im doing something wrong so its reasuring to hear from others. Ive contacted Hollister and expect a nurse to call tomorrow.
@otdave yes its interesting how localised the inflammation is so I think its really to do with the adhesive on the tape and perhaps a new sensitivity. I really like the peace of mind a tape gives, like a line of defence over just a hydrocolloid so hoping its possible.
@Shamrock - I dislike the Convatec website and find it very unclesr so have started to scope out some Coloplast options in case of the worst. Im actually pretty open to changing appliance if I can find one that works.

It obviously depends on what type of otosmy you have and your body contour to determine what sort of wafer/bag combination works good for you.IrelandOstomate94 wrote: 2026-04-13 14:44:42 .... I'm actually pretty open to changing appliance if I can find one that works.
I suggest using the Coloplast online checker to determine that and call them for free samples.

You might learn some tricks by reading my very through routine here. I get twice the average bag wear time than others with a hinged stoma (in a belly fold), 6 days instead of 3, and I have a chest scar divot on top of that.

Note: I don't have any affiliation with Coloplast, I just use their products and been happy for a few years now after trying other brands. Your results may differ.
Coloplast may be a bit more expensive, but they are of consistent quality. The trick to saving money with them is applying the wafer well as to get as much bag wear days as possible.
At first I was ordering supplies monthly, now I go a few months without ordering anything because I've over perfected my process.
