Covering ostomy bag
Any recommendations for how to cover my ostomy bag when I go out?
Re: Covering ostomy bag
Welcome to the boards!
Looks like you're new to the ostomy life. I've had an ostomy for 17 years now. Without more details about how you're wanting to cover your ostomy pouch, I'm going to guess that you are referring to hiding it under your shirt. For me, I have a pretty sizeable hernia, so I have an abdominal binder that I use. That said, I also irrigate as a colostomate, so wearing a binder doesn't give me any issues with my output during the day. But, if you are unable to use a binder, I would recommend a compression shirt. I use them every day. They keep the pouch snug against my body so that it doesn't get caught on things, and it allows for expansion when you do have bowel movements.
Hope that helps answer your question.

A looser longer shirt (aloha style, not tucked in) or perhaps a Stealth Belt Pro which also supports the bag, provides the best overall features, hides and protects well while swimming (pricey but damm good!)tmswheelockgmailcom wrote: 2026-05-24 10:27:57 Any recommendations for how to cover my ostomy bag when I go out?
There are also just cheap black slip on covers but these just hide it a little better, offer nothing much more than that.
Being aiming to get a Stealth Belt now that I've fully recovered (diet and rehydration solutions solved) and soon to be on a Medicare Advantage Plan which gives me free access to local gyms and swimming pools through Silver Sneakers.
Thanks for reminding me!
