Urinary Diversion

Post by Codemannorth »

Has anyone had a Urinary Diversion where they left the bladder and just bypassed it? If so has anyone had problems? Like still having the urge to go pee or bladder spazms?

I have a Urostomy and they left my baldder in. I get pain every so often and a pressure. Sometimes it burns. I have never gone to the bathroom the "normal" way so I do not know if it would feel as if I had to go pee.

I do know someone who had his bladder left in. The problem is that the bladder can still get mucus building up inside it and get infections as well. if you are having a permanent urinary diversion with no intention of even attempting a reconnection to the bladder, then I feel it is better out than in!

Hi, my bladder was left in when I had a urostomy and had the same problems! and what Terry said about mucus buildup and infections that happened to me big time! my bladder almost ruptured from infection and had to have a super pubic catheter to irrigate and clear up the infection. I think that's what it was called a catheter put through my stomach straight to the bladder! and then had a successful reversal. John b
