Post by jules^ »

so ..we manged camping in a tent with hannahs colostomy, we managed when it was reversed and she was in pull ups...now we have the ace!
i booked the holiday ( at her request lol) and sat here tonight and thought omg where and how do i do the washout in the tent!!!
my choices are this....
do it somehow in the tent.....but its erm rather noisy folks would hear!
or do it in the public toilets.....NO WAY or the disabled toilet which isnt very private!
any ideas anyone???

Jules,

With the Ace/Malone, it "should" be manageable for at least one day and maybe even two nights if you plan right. Although you should consult your doctor, I have found that taking some Immodium helps slow things down and give me more hours. I was able to take a two day trip to Las Vegas and did not have to empty. If the camping trip is longer, the portable toilet is not a bad idea. I did it once when I was in high school, in our car. Just bring lots of wipes to cleanup! You would also need some sort of high place to put the bag. It is a little tougher when higher up in elevation because gravity is a little weaker! Well, keep us updated on how the camping goes.

I usually dont do my "washouts" every day, i do mine every other day, which my doctor has said is fine, i dont usually have a problem, so depending on how long your camping trip is you might be okay, maybe you could do one the morning you leave and then one when you get back. I have been able to go 2 1/2 days before with no problems, obivously you should consult a doctor about this, but it has worked for me, so i just thought i would share my story, good luck! Let us know how it all works out, sorry if this post is kind of late, ive been gone a few days!
