Nervous, Scared & Excited!

Post by Keebz »

Ok so tomorrow morning I go in to have a flex-sig done. (The surgeon is going to look at my rectum). I currently have an illeostomy (my whole colon was removed). If my rectum looks good I will be able to have illeorectal anastomosis. That is what I want! If it looks bad...then I have to think about a jpouch. I am scared becuase I will not be put under for the flex...I'll be awake! anyone ever been awake while your rectum was looked at with the scope?? Is it painful?? I will be taking a Valium beforehand but I'm not sure it's going to relax me enough! If the rectum is healthy It will the the happiest day of my life! (except the birth of my daughter!!) I'm terrified that the doc will say the rectum is no good. If it is not good, I have to go see a surgeon that I do not like. I'm very uncomfortable with her...however if the jpouch is what I need, my gen. surgeon cannot preform that surgery. I'm scared of the jpouch. I so need the rectum to be good! I'm afraid I'll be depressed again if I cannot have the illeorectal surgery. Please keep me in your thoughts. I'll update you all when I get home tomorrow! :::keeping my fingers crossed!:::

i've never been awake during any scopes, i've woken up before though in the middle of some...but a lot of ppl are awake during their scopes so i would think (and hope) that it wouldn't be painful, maybe just some pressure?
