Stoma urine bags

Post by toddcalo »

My father recently had his bladder removed ( bladder cancer) he is 68 years old and is having trouble with the urine bags leaking where they adhere to the skin. He has a stoma nurse but that dosent seem to be the answer.
My dad was always very active and just dosent feel comfortable leaving home with these leaking problems, what does he need to do to resolve this problem? Also what type of bag options seem to work best for a active person? calf type? Trouser type? Other?
man he sure would appreciate any help from somebody who's been ther done that. What is the best source for this stuff?
Thank you very much Todd

Todd,

Has he tried any of the skin preps that you put on your skin before the flange ? Skin Tac works best for me.

Is the hole in pouch the proper size for stoma ? If not Its going to leak. It has to seal at the stoma otherwise here comes a leak guaranteed  He may need to change to a different type of pouch

and where did that stoma nurse get her degree ??? She , He It should be able to tell what the leaking problem is. My pouch is right on the stoma and I am very active... Bouncing tractor is my worst enemy.. I can open zipper and end of pouch is right there for emptying...same as before surgery, just a lil shorter
