bcir with site closing

Post by mouseymom2 »

:?: I am new to this site. I am from ny and i am having problems with my site closing. I just had vavle and access segment repair in april o6. I have a bcir. I went back to st. louis for this but i was wondering if anyone nows Dr. Baur from new york? I got his name from this site. I actually saw a doctor at mt. sinai who has not done a koch pouch in 15 years. He said my stoma is not attached to the wall and that is why it is closing. He said he will bring out my stoma 1/8 of an inch and that will fix the problem I never had any stoma out and was wondering if this sounds right. He said if i do not get it fixed the hole will eventually close. Any help from anyone will be greatly appreciated. thank you

I have a Kock. My stoma does stick out just a little. My suggestion is to see a doctor who is currently doing Kocks or BCIRs for a second opinion.

Thank you so much, I had surgery with Dr. Steinhaggen in Mt. Sinai on Tuesday the 13th. I still have the catheter in until Wednesday when I see him again. He is the chief of colorectal surgery at mt sinai. It doesn't look very good but i guess that is what it looks like for now. i had a bcir the opening was flat. I think it will look different now. thanks again.

Hi
I hope you are doing well. I am also from NY and have been looking for a doctor to do a K pouch on me. I found Dr. Milsom at NY Presbyterian Cornell University. He is the cheif of colon and rectal surgery. He worked with Dr. Fazio at the Cleveland Clinic. I will be going with him. I didn't know Steinhaggen did that surgery because when I was looking for a doctor, they told me he didn't the K pouch procedure.
I hope you are getting better.

stoma closing

Post by mouseymom2 »

Hi i just wanted to thank everyone for your response to my question. Dr. Steinhagen does nt do kock pouches he does J pouch surgery, but he said he could fix my stoma it was not a hard procedure. I looked for other doctors, but no one took my insurance and i am still paying for my valve repair in April of 06. I took my chance with dr. steinhagen and i am doing fine. The stoma seems to be ok I can intubate now. I still have the stitches in and I seem to get some blood when intubating. I will see the dr again on April. 25. Thank you all again for your help. Irene
