newest posts first - is this possible?

Post by Mara »

Just curious if there is a way to have newest posts show on the top of the thread rather than oldest. If you read the board frequently it gets annoying to keep on scrolling to the bottom. I know this is doable on other boards similiar to this. You can do it yourself but it has to be done for each thread you read and that gets old quickly......

Just a thought - maybe y'all don't agree.

Mara - I agree that newest replies on top would reduce the amount of scrolling one has to do. I did find where you can select to display that way but appears you have to do that for each topic. Bob - any help you can offer on this? Otherwise great work in getting this site up - the numbers reading post are surprisingly high for this early. Congratulations!

I agree that it would reduce the scrolling, however I think it would make it harder to follow the thread. If you are reading the responses it's easier to read top to bottom just like reading a regular page. You can follow it easier.

Otherwise if you try to follow the postings, reading from top to bottom of the post, then scrolling up to read the reply to the previous post would get more annoying in my opinion. Especially if you catch the thread after 10 people have replied, scrolling down to the bottom to start (original post) then scrolling back up to read all the responses.

Now that "newest first" seems to be the default, I just want to mention that I really really hate it. The first time you open a thread the post at the top makes no sense at all.

Is there any way we can choose which way we want it to default to?
