How to delete duplicate posts??

Post by Jerry in PA »

Bob or others - Yesterday my computer, or maybe me, or maybe the board software had a senior moment resulting in the message I was posting appearing three times. What was happening was when I would hit "submit" I would get one of those "page not found" or similar error screens. Anyway, upon seeing the duplicate posts today I tried the edit function which works fine for editing, but could not delete the extra copies. Is there a "delete" function for when this happens, which obviously doesn't happen often so it must have been "us". Topic in question was "Ostomy supplies" started by mslisa. Thanks.

deleting

Jerry, as far as I can see, if your post was the last post on the thread, you can delete it. It has this little "X" box up there next to Edit and Quote, which are also boxes. It sort of looks like this:

So, you see the three buttons. You would click on the X one to delete it. Hope that helps.

Hey Eric. Thanks. By the time I noticed my triple posts, there was another message posted. So I am only seeing the edit and quote boxes, not the box with X. Apparently that would mean I can't delete them. Since I'm the only one that seems to have done this trick, not a biggie I guess.

Hi Jerry,
As Eric said, the person who posts a message can delete it while it's still the last post on the thread. If it's no longer at the bottom of the thread, you'd have to ask one of the moderators of that forum (for example, Eric is a moderator for the Young Adult but not General forum), or you can ask me to delete it, no matter which forum it's in.

Thanks Bob, I eventually saw that in the FAQs or somewhere. It seems a means to delete obvious duplicate entries would be a simple matter but no doubt it isn't.
