Scar Tissue creating bowl abstruction
I have had to go to the emergency 2xs in the last 4weeks because of my bowls getting wraped around scar tissue. They said they may have to go back in, Has this happend to anyone else?

I had a Urostomy in 1977. About a year later I started to feel ill, kind of like the flu could not keep anything down. Then I realized that I could not get my belt fastened around my middle.
Went to the ER and they diagnosed Adhesions on my intestine. Explained as kind of like a rubber band that kept tightening until it closed off the flow. They said that it was not an uncommon occurrence where the intestine has been cut. They removed the adhesion thru fairly minor surgery and I have had no problems since.

Blockage
I have had an Indiana pouch for 21 years. And the adhesions are my biggest problem. It has put me in and out of hospitals with a few operations in emergency situations, but heaps of NG tubes since 1994.
From what I have heard, it differs for everyone. It is also something that doctors are just starting to understand wide spread. Some people get blockages from just one surgery, while others need several abdominal surgeries to get a blockage. It also depends on how long/large your scar on the outside is, meaning, how often did they go in at the same spot. It is a catch 22.
Sometimes, once the adhesions are in place, the only thing that can "fix" them is surgery, while at the same time, that is what causes them.
If you don't have a doctor who understands your pain and how it may come back again, and that they may have to find an alternative to surgery, I STRONGLY suggest you find a more educated doctor.
I have been through so many who don't understand, but cannot seem to find it in their ego to tell me. In which case, I end up walking away feeling crazy.
If you want to talk about it sometime, please feel free to PM me. I spend lots of my time dealing with the side effects of surgery. Vomiting/nausea/blockages. I would love to talk to someone who is in the same boat. Most people it only happens to once... I can't get rid of it.

Scar Tissue.
God, of all the things I have had done to me over the years I hated the NG tube more than any other thing. It seems like every time I had any little thing done they wanted to stick that d*** tube down my nose.
On the bright side after my surgery for adhesion removals I went nearly 30 years before they were an issue again. Even then it was only because they had to move my stoma from one side to the other. Stupid me trying to move furniture and boxes like a teenager and ended up with a major rupture.
