granulomas on my stoma

Post by rikki »

has anyone had garanulomas (not sure about the spelling) on their stoma. i've had them frozen off twice but my urologist don't want to take them off again until they get larger for fear that freezing them to much will damage my stoma.
pain is real bad in my left kidney today and i guess the inevitable kidney infection is on the way. sorry to complain i don't see you guys doing that much. just a real bad day for me.

I see a lot of you guys have looked at this topic but no one has answered me. I take this to mean i am still have a few of the more unusual problems. i will have to have these burnt off again soon because of the size they are getting so if anyone has any info on it please let me know.

Granuloma's aren't all that rare apparently. Most doctors just burn them off with silver nitrate swabs.

Rikki I have granulation around my urostomy stoma..beenthere for 4 months now and is very slow to heal....didn't need the freezing but my ET nurse puts a special dressing on it plus silver nitrate to help the healing...also I have a home nurse who comes twice a week to change the bag till it is healed...sometimes it can take a long time to heal as it is never open to the air...but it will heal...maybe your ET nurse can help out with the different things they have to try...

My daughter had granulation on her ACE stoma when she had a chait in it. We found that Kenalog was much easier to use than silver nitrate. It's a steroid that is normally used for mouth ulcers, so you can't use it for too long. It cleared it up so quickly though that we only needed to use it for a few days.
I don't know how suitable it is for other types of stomas though, you'd have to check.

Cheers

i will ask my urologist about that. He has frozen them off a couple of time but is hesitant to do it anymore for fear of messing up my stoma. I of course share this fear since i am leary of any surgery at this point. Thanks for all the information and the support.
