And yet another vote for the old board. It was great! Again, thanks for all your work. You must be ready to tear your hair out at this point.

i'm throwing my vote in for the new board. As Bob said, at some point soon, they will no longer offer support for this board, so the logical thing to do would be to upgrade to the new one. It may take some digging to find out why it fails, but in the long run, the switch to the new board will need to happen anyways, so why not now?

The new board is pretty much the same as this board, but with an updated look, and a few new, better features.

keep working with the new board bob, i know it will work well soon.

It appears that we'll be using this old phpBB2 board for a while, although we can't keep running it indefinitely, so we'll continue to explore all options for either getting phpBB3 to work or switching to some other software package.

But since we'll continue using this old board for a while, I have reactivated its registration capability. Everybody who has registered in our 'new' board since March 23 needs to re-register now in this 'old' board.

Bob,
Does the same apply to any PM exchanges received and replied to during the brief time of the new boards existence, as my PM logs reflect only old info and not anything up-to-date. If anyone sent me a PM during the new board's existence, please send again.

Thank you.

Yes Kip. PMs sent to the 'new' board are not on this one. I had two that I could not access and are gone now. So, as Kip requested, anyone who sent me a PM , especially yesterday or the night before, please resend them.

i like the new board, but i'm tired of switching! i've made many posts and sent several pms, that are now lost. :( i am a very avid user of the site, and a daily "pmer" with some of my closest friends. i dont have any other contact w/ them other than pms and posts and we like to know much about eachother. unfortunately i've had a bad week and i pmed my friend in "need" and she never got it. i was hoping for support back from her, and unfortuanately it was a very long pm that i couldnt restate. so please, just stick w/ the old board until we can't use it any more and we have no choice but to use the new one. then we'll just have to pray that it works.

also, when the new board started some of the "old folks" passwords werent working at first, i got mine to work, but i know a few people who haven't been able to get back on. what will they need to do to get on. do they have to reregister.

Agree with EBGel that either I would receive too much info from a Search or I wouldn't find specifically what I had recalled reading in the past. ( i.e. "sleeping positions" would give me threads regarding anything that included "sleep" and "position" but not the necessarily the phrase "sleeping positions").

That's why I liked the new "Favorite" function that was with the New Board. I could have marked a post as a Favorite and then gone to my profile in the future and just reviewed my specific concerns.

It's your call Bob. You know the technical and support aspects of this upgrade much more than the majority of Members. It reminds me of the Internet Explorer SP2 upgrade. People that installed it in its infancy ran into all kinds of problems, but eventually many months later when the bugs were worked out and the installation became mandatory, things went fairly well.

So..............Good Luck.

Karly and all,

I understand entirely that you're tired of switching. Right now, I think we're finished with switching for a while. I had hoped to get the new board running stably, but haven't succeeded so far, and don't anticipate solving that problem any time in the immediate future. So we'll continue running this old board for a while. We'll need to switch to something else eventually, but not right away.

Meanwhile, we'll have to accept that everything done in the 'new' board from March 23 to April 10 is lost. This includes all postings, PMs, registrations and password changes. In some cases, the conversion process from the old to new board (which I did during the weekend of March 21-23) failed to preserve passwords correctly, so people had to get new passwords in the new board. If you're one of these people, just ignore whatever happened in the 'new' board, and try using your 'old' password again. There's no need to re-register; if you have trouble logging in, try the "I forgot my password" feature on the login screen, and if that fails, contact an administrator (LeeAnn or myself).

The only people who need to re-register are the new people who just registered in our 'new' board between March 23 and April 10, and had never been never registered in this old board.

Gawd, don't you just love computers? Sorry the new gear isn't cooperating. Me, I don't have a preference either way -- new board or old board I appreciate the work that goes into keeping something like this going. Hang in there dude!
