Re: How Can I Make Wafers Stick Better?

I came home from the hospital with Hollister supplies and used them for almost 3 years. Had to use adhesive spray to get 3-4 days out of my wafer before it started peeling. I switched to Coloplast Sensura Mio Click wafers last year. Best decision I've made concerning my ostomy. Don't need an adhesive spray and I get a full 7 days. I could probably go more than a week but it's easier to just change it out on the same day every week.

I irrigate daily and almost never have any output. I put a new wafer on after showering with no warming, laying on my stomach, etc. I'm good to go in less than a minute.

Request some samples and see if you have the same positive experience.

Not to derail the thread, but I tried the Coloplast Click system twice.
The first time I had trouble figuring it out but no other problems. The second time, the pouch kept falling off, even though I made sure it clicked and was attached (tug tug). It fell off when I got up in the morning, then slithered down my leg twice during the day. Fortunately, I also irrigate so there was no code brown.
Maybe it was a faulty wafer or pouch, or maybe there's a trick I still don't understand???

I haven't experienced that with the Coloplast Mio Click. You do have to be sure the flanges are snugly secured to one another before "clicking."

Thanks to all who gave suggestions (even though this response is over a year later). I will look them over as I have time, and eventually find a method that's practical for me.

If your wafer don't want to stick use "Geritrex Benzoin Compound Tincture U.S.P. Skin Protectant" it protects the skin PLUS really hold the wafer on, a 2 oz. bottle will last a years as you only need a little on a Q-tip to rub where the wafer goes and its so good, was told that from a vet. and he was so so right, i don;t let myself be without it....sassie

I'm going to dig out my heating pad... good advice. Or find time to lie down on my abdomen after putting on a wafer.

However, I do square off my wafer now with 2 products after putting it on. My skin is sensitive and these 2 products help a lot. One: Convatec Ease strips. Our support group recently had a mini-fair with exhibitors. The Convatec rep told me to heat these with a hair dryer before applying but that isn't generally necessary. You can get a sample here: https://www.convatec.com/forms/request- ... TYQAvD_BwE

I also like Brava straight or curved strips (they also come in a Y shape) although after a while, my skin may react to them. Give these a try? https://www.coloplast.us/global/Ostomy/ ... lsrc=aw.ds

Good luck!
