lee I have done weight watchers for a year and have only lost 20 pounds. while it is great program it isn't for everyone. i need to lose this weight quickly if i want this hernia taken care of and weight watchers isn't the way i don't think. i have tried going to the gym for several days and was well i thought able to to go this am got there did 5 minutes on the seated stepper and had to go home i was in agony. i am so sick of being so sick the only thing i can currently eat without any issues is chicken ramen and oatmeal. sadly they are both carbohydrates which pack on the weight. i do drink a lot of plain water throughout the day. and i can occasionally keep down a protein shake with frozen strawberries and bananas and yogurt and almond milk but that i try like once a week. tonight i am trying for the first time some salmon and broccoli in hopes i can keep it down as that is much better than ramen.

I'm sorry you are going through so much. I was only suggesting trying WW after your surgery, but if you have been on it for a year or more now, yes it may not be for you. Have you looked at blue apron? I don't have any of info about it. Many years ago, my husband wanted to sign up for Schwann, I looked at the catalog, salt, salt, salt, bad for me. When the guy showed up, I asked if they offered anything low in sodium, some type of chicken was only 300 mg. Wow, I can cook mine own chicken with far less salt. I've learned to use other flavors, with little to no salt. Hopefully they have added a less sodium diet to their menu.
Yes you do need this surgery, it sounds like you are feeding a cycle. I too would want it to stop. Good luck and keep us posted. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Smashms,
I echo Lee's comments. Wow -- down 15 lbs! Congrats! I'm sorry to hear about the food and exercise issues and that you are feeling so crummy.
'There are so many food plans offered now that it's staggering but if one is avoiding gluten or dairy or soy, it can be challenging -- and if it's hard to keep any food down, that's so tough.
Someone recently told me about Territory.com which offers many plans but it gets costly and is only in certain locations.
I know that fruit = carbs = calories, but in hot weather the dessert bullet has really helped me and can be bought in many stores. Easy to digest with no added sugar other than what is in fruit.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HbvwhhzGOmE I imagine you've tried applesauce without added sugar.
Can you possibly walk? Karen really emphasized that. I find it helpful if I'm not in the mood for the gym (tho am gearing up for that). I'm now seeing a PT 3x/week which helps for motivation -- so much that I walked home 4 miles afterwards once -- well, my car was in the shop so I had an incentive. But I felt the stress oozing out of my body and had no craving for carbs that day or the next and ate mostly protein. Am sure the MS adds to the stress. I know there's a special diet to help with MS but that could be difficult. I found that consuming (organic) soups right after surgery was fairly easy and healthy. Chicken soup with rice? With noodles? Rice crackers? With a bit of almond butter and fruit-only jam and no added sugar? Or maybe a piece of chicken on it?
Good luck with the surgery date, Smashms, and keep us posted. It sounds as though you have good surgical care and that's more than half the battle. I understand re vacation dates. My surgery was originally planned for August but finally occurred in November! Your situation sounds challenging. I wish you the best.

ok guys yet another update. just back from niagra falls, saw the bariatric doctor before i went she put me on a high protein low carb diet. which basically means i eat 20 grams of protein with every meal and vegetables that are cooked as i seem not to have issues with them as bad. still cause a bit of pain but i can deal with it with just tylenol so far. i can have 4 servings of carbs a day. this isn't an awful lot considering all fruits are carbs so is wine! and of course corn which i can't eat, bread, rice, potatoes, pasta etc. will be bringing the good drugs with me to NC to be just on the safe side. i am hoping i can go without the hard drugs till my surgery but i do have a few left if needed and i spoke again with the surgeon last week and he said if i have any severe nausea and vommiting spells or any severe pain he wants to know and will schedule surgery without losing the 40 more pounds. ideally he dosen't want to do it emergently but i am at extremely high risk for obstruction again he said. i go back to bariatrics on july 3rd and she will then start me on an only liquid diet which i will start on july 5. cause you know i have to have 1 more party before i get super strict! i am still going on vacation next week and will be eating out a ton but i can work around my current diet if i choose my meals and restaurants correctly. so far i have lost an additional 12 pounds since seeing the surgeon a few weeks ago. and i am going to the gym at min of 4 days a week i try to go 5 days a week and am up to 45 minutes on the seated stair stepper. ideally the bariatric doctor wants me doing an hour of cardio a day. i am hoping to get to that by the end of vacation. this last sat i walked 7.5 miles in niagra falls canada. i am still recovering my hips kill me but i am feeling better every day did 20 minutes today will try for 55 minutes tomorrow so i may even hit an hour cardio tomorrow.

went back to bariatrics lost another 4 pounds which she said was great considering i did go on vacation for a week and was eating out every meal. still having a bit of nausea but the meds help a bit. haven't been to the gym in a few weeks will be going back starting monday however. been doing a lot of walking though. on aug 10 unless i can get in with the nutritionist sooner will start the liquid diet and do that for a month. can't do it any longer than that as my kidneys won't like it. so till then just doing high protein and low carb and tons of water.
