Like a revolving door . . . I am back in the hospital.
Severe unresolved small intestine inflammation and abdominal stranding (x 2.5 weeks) has lead to worsening of
the GI bleed. The GI bleed made itself known in dramatic fashion yesterday afternoon.
When things go wrong, they can really unravel quickly.
I believe in the power of collective energy and good-will. Anyone who is able to send positive karma my direction will be appreciated.

I hope that your doctors find the best route to stop the GI bleed and get you home.
I am sorry I have been off here for a few weeks.
I know how much I hated the revolving hospital door from Dec 28, 2018 to March 15, 2019. I know it is no fun and hope they find the plan that is best for you and your health.

Just wishing you a nice Monday, Karen. Summer seems to have descended among the DC area. Blink and you miss spring! Cooler where you are but some rain. Weather affects my mood so much. And SUNLIGHT sure helps. (I even have a cap with a light but forget to use it...) Hope the pain is less this week. Thinking of you.

Re: Sending Healthy Wishes to Karen/Button!
I am in ICU.
It is all around sad. The copious output, small bowel inflammation, GI bleed have morphed into pancreatitis and diffuse bile duct occlusion (due to unchecked inflammation), malabsorption, elevated WBC.
The various specialists have no ready answer but rather point to a tipping point where my body is no longer able to compensate for the confluence of chronic illness that have plagued me. Long term steroid use and Addison’s disease add complicating factors that are not easily mitigated.
I am down to 76 pounds. “Small but mighty” has always been my personal motto as I am by nature a petite little gal, but I no longer feel resilient. I am tapped out and exhausted to my core.
There can come a point where medicine cannot fix what ails the body, and I may be at this uncomfortable inflection point.
Gentle positive energy flow and prayer for comfort from pain by anyone will be appreciated.

Karen,
You don't know me but I have been reading on this forum and have come to understand a bit about you from your postings. That you are able to write so well while enduring so much suffering shows your strength of spirit. You have a gift for clarity of thought about other's problems and about your own situation. You have thought previously about your health and mortality to come to point of palliative care but to be faced with the immediacy of failing body systems must be overwhelming. Yet I pray for a miracle for you. I pray that your specialists have an ace up their sleeve to handle your complex case. I wish for you to be able to drown out the sights, sounds of ICU to keep a good frame of thought. I wish for you to be able to feel the things that have comforted you in the past. I hope someone is there to give you some physical ease such as back or foot rub. I send only good thoughts your way.

Re: Sending Healthy Wishes to Karen/Button!
More thoughts of you, Karen. I start heavy-duty physical therapy today at a clinic a few miles away. This is VERY different from in-home PT and the PT I received at the, uh, "unskilled" nursing center for 10 days after surgery although that did get me up and moving. After 4+ months dealing with wound care, I am so out of shape. Had 2 evaluations and ready to exercise carefully but with more vigor today. The therapists are super. I tried to walk in place quickly yesterday raising my knees high -- whew! That hurt. (I do feel pain in my upper thighs after standing a long while. I wonder if this is due to nerves being cut.) You always advocated exercise and losing weight. So necessary. Keeping your wise words in my head. And, of course, wishing you well, rest, and peaceful thoughts.
