My husband currently has a colonostomy and most likely will have a ileostomy next year. he suffers from UC and possibly crohns. We are doing several tests next week thagt are being sent to California for the results. The Gi thinks UC may have developed into Crohns.

I really like these posts and the name Dr. Fazio has been in several places. Does anyone know of a colo-rectal surgeon in the central illinois area they would reccommend in the event this is needed?

I know his GI has resources and we really like him. I just thought I would see if anyone had a name and if they match with the ones the GI reccommends that would be even better.

Thank you,
Lisa

Hi Linda, i just had my kock pouch done in Toronto, Canada at Mt. Sinai Hospital by Dr. Robin McLeod. Prior to the surgery, i researched the BCIR procedure and met with a Dr. in London, Ont., Dr. Taylor, who said he would perform that procedure for me as well. I choose Dr. McLeod because she did my initial surgery 20 years ago and i really like and respect her. Dr. Taylor suggested that these days, the Kock and Bartlett procedure are basically the same - both using only your own body tissue - the placement of the valve perhaps being the only difference. So there are two doctors in Ontario, Canada that are performing continent ileostomies. Hope this info helps.

Tori is correct. The two procedures are basically the same. There is some difference in the construction of the stoma though.

I've not heard anyone speak of him before, but some details of him can be seen at this link on the hospital's website:
http://www.nyp.org/FPHTML/1168360284914.html

It's good of them to list the insurances that are accepted - haven't seen that before.

(I'm pretty sure that isn't him in the top photo  )

Dr.Gregg Shore -
St Anthonys Hospital
Center for Intestinal Continence
1201 5th Ave.N.,St. Petersburg , FL 33705

1-888-825-1495 www.intestinalcontinence.com

He trained at Cleveland Clinic as well as other hospitals.
Great bedside manners and does his own scopes when he scopes a pouch that is calling problems, so he can see issues much easier than from a report by an Endosocopy type Dr.
Does the BCIR and JPouch along with other surgeries as well.

Fran Russell is a great contact as she runs his office and ran Dr. Pollacks when he was at Palms of Pasadena.
Very professional and caring staff IMPO!
Fran's email is bcirfran@yahoo.com

BEST WISHES
I will keep you in my prayers that it works out for you as you like.

TAKE CARE AND GOD BLESS!
