Newbie question on Private messages

Can someone explain what the difference in the "Sentbox" vs the "outbox" in our private message boxes? I have "sent" some messages that show up in one or the other.....or it says its in the "out" box but not "sent"? I'm truly as confused as my question sounds! :D I just want to be sure my message has gone to the receiver.

Thanks,
Simone

In one of them (and I'm not exactly sure which) it is showing until it's opened by the recipient. After it's opened, it shows up 'sent' I believe...

I'm sure a mod can explain.

yes, I think message stays in "Outbox" until recipient opens it.
Then it moves to "Sentbox"

your sent message stays in the "sent" box until the recipent reads the message. After they have read it, it shows up in you "Outbox".

JJ's right, I think. I have nothing in my outbox but plenty in my sent box and I know they've been opened because ppl have responded to them already.

Can't swear how this board works.

However normally when something is in the 'outbox' it has NOT been sent . . . yet. The "sent box" lets you know it was sent, however doesn't mean its been opened. Usually you have to click on something indicating you want to know if its been opened or not. At least this is the way Outlook & AOL mailbox's work.

One of the reasons items hang out in the "outbox" is there could be server problems on your box or the recipents.
