Has anyone used Enablex to help stop leaking Indiana Pouch?

Post by jrickard »

I've had my IP a year this month. When I leak, it's major! No mini or maxi pad with hold the flow! My Dr. today gave me some samples of Enablex to see if that may help. I still have diarreah(sp) so the drying up of body fluids may help that too.

I am not familiar with Enablex, what is it usually used for? I use dicyclomine for my leaking, and for me it works fairly well.

it's used for over active bladder. What is dicyclomine used for? What kind of side effects?

Dicyclomine is also called Bentyl. It is a bowel anti-spasmodic. Because our pouches are now made of bowel whihc does not know that it is now bladder it continues to respond to meds designed for the bowel. My pouch leaks when it spasms, so it only makes sense to use a bowel anti-spasmodic for it. I think it may make you a bit sleepy, but I personally have not noticed any side effects, though everyone is different. Judith
