Nov 17th Surgery Date

Having stoma revision as it is herniated. Surgeon doesn't feel that it will help but, if, it does great. Great incentive to go under the knife huh. Stoma is herniated so badly that, stool is not properly draining into bag. Dr. said he feels that I may be a great candidate to irrigate. While the thought of not having to wear bag is greatly appealing do have concerns. What happens if you eat something after irrigating and it does not stay in your system? Is it still better to wear bag for back up. Excuse my ignorance but, I am still new to this and totally disgusted in many ways. What are the best irrigation tools to use etc etc. Dont even know what to ask at this point in time.

Hello Sista!
Come on down to the Irrigation for Colostomates section of the forum, you will find lots of friends to get you started! If you are using a 2 piece system, you can purchase (or have prescribed) an irrigation set that matches your wafer, etc..... If you are using a one piece, it doesn't matter that way! After your surgery heals, I hope you give irrigation a try.

Yes, you will be wearing pouches, or a mini pouch between irrigations until you get  really good at it. Come on over and start reading the posts and asking your questions!
