antigrade enema help?

Post by Tysmom »

Tyler has a cecosotmy with a mic-key button

Tyler has been having smears the last several days in his underwear and when it is time to do his flush he mentions he has been holding his poop in all day.

Anyways we use the feeding bag method but once the bag is empty there is still saline in the tube that doesn't go all the way to the Mic-key.....so the last few days I have taken a syringe with air to push the fluid the rest of the way. In the past two weeks I have increased the saline to 550 ml but have left gylcerin the same at 20 ml. Any suggestions how I can help him not have soiling and also say he is holding back all day?

Tonight his soiling was quite substainual so I increased his glycerin to 26 ml.

Well after a chat with his doctor we thought maybe the glycerin was overacting his colon so for now we have backed off all gylcerin and are doing Saline only enema/flushes. So far things seem to be back on track. Now his flush is 500 ml water and 1 tsp salt. We were advised by doc to up the salt.
