Large stone in stoma

Hello I am new here. I had inflammation in my bladder Jan 95. They gave me a kock pouch. I had a few complications with this operation. I was not feeling well last year. I had tests done. They found with a scan a large stone in my pouch. The drainage was not drainging properly. I just had my stoma made bigger and now have a catheter in for two weeks. I am now told the stone which they thought was smaller is the size of a tennis ball. They are telling me now that the whole operation will have to be done all over again from scratch. Has anyone ever heard of this happening. I am scared to go through this again. Marion

I have a Kock because of ulcerative colitis so it is not in place of my bladder. However, I did have stones in my pouch.
They were too large to be extracted through my stoma.
My colo-rectal surgeon teamed up with a urologist on staff at the hospital and did something called 'lithotripsy'. It took 5 hours under anesthesia, but broke up the stones so that they drained through the catheter.
This is a reference if your doctor is interested.
