Neobladder in the news

Post by LindaAukett UOAA Advocacy »

A good example of PR being presented as "news". Neobladders have been done for quite a while, but suddenly here is this piece:

Looks like Mayo has a new really aggressive PR firm (this plus something else they put out as new recently, which has also been done elsewhere for some time).

We won't even get into how it seems every external pouch is a colostomy bag.

I agree, don't get me started on the issue of what docs have called my urostomies over the years! When I had an ileal conduit, it was always referred to as an ileostomy-GRRR. I also hate the way that they portray losing your bladder as the end of the world- heck for me it was the ability to finally live again. As far as neo-bladder or internal pouches go, I have had mine for 17 years now and there are some way older than mine.
