Fistulas after Indiana Pouch Surgery
My dgh. had surgery early Dec., 2009, for removal of bladder, uterus and appendix due to bladder cancer. Six weeks after surgery, a fistula, believed to be from the intestines, opened to her skin, and she is currently fitted with a small ostomy bag. Have any of you who've had an Indiana Pouch suffered from these fistulas, and what has been the treatment?
Re: Stoma Issues
Bevjean, wish I could help you with that one. I have had my Indiana pouch since 1992 and never had an fistulas. Hopefully someone can help you with that one.

Re: Stoma Issues
Thanks, Squid. Possibility still exists that, instead of a fistula, there could be an intestinal leak requiring more surgery. A CT scan is being done in a couple of days to determine that. Glad you've had such success with your pouch.
