catheters

Post by lois1938 »

Can anyone help me with a name of a non latex cath. They changed the one I used for 3 years. I need 14FR 16 " non latex. I have a indiana pouch and also scar tissue so i need a firmer one as it is hard to insert catheter as scar tissue is bad. Thanks lois1938

I use the Coloplast self cath it is latex free and very stiff. I also need to use a coude catheter, which means the end is curved. My tract for my Indiana pouch is very twisty and tortuous so I also need to use something that is stiff enough to negotiate the tract. I use 14F 16inch too.The number you ask for is 486.

i use the same one as squid, i think. it's the male one, although I am female.. I've been using it since I was 5. so over 15 years. i have a mitrofanoff, not Indiana pouch. I'm also not really sure what an Indiana pouch is.

Hope that helps!!!!

Lois, which one were you using? I used to use one by Mentor, but Coloplast bought them out so it is actually the same one, just different company.
Melanie, an Indiana pouch is very similar to the Mitrofanoff. Mine is made from my transverse colon because the parts of bowel they normally use had already been used in other procedures that I had done. My stoma is located on my right side down very low.
