ostomy/ileal conduit - recent surgery

Post by Joey »

Hello,,,

I am 36 years old...i recently had surgery (10 hrs) to remove a mass cancerous tumor removed from my pelvis and unfortunately,, i also lost my bladder and rectum, and prostate...I now have a colostomy and ileal conduit... my surgery was 2 weeks ago...This has been extremely difficult for me and my wife to deal with.

I am trying to get used to my body and the colostomy/ileal conduit bags. I find myself having to emptying the ileal conduit bag every hour, it just gets heavy around my waist.. I was wondering if anyone can suggest any tips or companies that may have better suitable bags.

Thanks
Joey

I chose to wear a leg bag (Conveen-28-oz) to lessen the draining frequency. It keeps the weight out of the bag. "Be Well"
