Convatec Vitala

Post by CancerChic2009 »

Hello all,
I'm new to the group. I was diagnosed with stage II rectal cancer at age 35. I have a permanent colostomy. I have had a colostomy since 2010. I still hate it and I am pretty sure I always will. I want to be as close to I was before my diagnosis and this foreign object hanging from my stomach is making that very difficult. I was wondering if any of you have heard any more information about when the United States will be able to start using the Convatec Vitala. I think the idea is great and it may help me feel like my former self for at least 8 hours of the day!

Thanks

Best bet is to call Convatec and see if they can give you an idea. I have an ileostomy, so that will not be an option for me. Have you checked into irrigating? From what I understand, once you have "trained" yourself, you can go with a gauze pad over the stoma, or at least a small stoma cap type device.

Here's a link. They say it is coming this fall, but not where it's coming--USA or ???

Do you know of a country that has it now?
