Come to the UOAC Conference in 2014.

Post by Peter_Saskatoon »

Our next conference is July 31 to August 2, 2014 in St. John`s, Newfoundland.

The St. John’s and Gander NL chapters invite all ostomates, and their families and friends, to come to UOAC’s Biennial Conference in St. John’s NL July 31 to August 2, 2014. Preparations are well underway, led by Conference Administrator Delilah Guy of Gander and Conference Chair Carol Wells of St. John’s. The Conference will be held at the Delta Hotel in the heart of downtown St. John’s. Although Newfoundland is Canada’s youngest province, joining Confederation in 1949, St. John’s is the oldest city in North America. John Cabot in 1497 was one of the earlier visitors --- now it’s your turn to come!

What can Conference give to me?

Varied and interesting educational sessions about living with an ostomy
Time to visit with old friends and make new ones
Opportunity to attend the Annual General Meeting as a delegate or observer
Social events
Silent and live auctions and raffle prizes

What’s so special about St. John’s?

Signal Hill, where Marconi received the world’s first transatlantic wireless signal
Icebergs in the harbour---or just outside it
Home of hit CBC TV show Republic of Doyle
Home of musicians Great Big Sea
Screeching in and kissing the cod: an experience not to be missed
Whale watching
Entertainment and dining on
George Street
The Rooms: provincial museum and art gallery

What about the rest of Newfoundland?

Beautiful scenery
Cape Spear, the most easterly point on the North American continent
The East Coast Trail - a coastal hiking experience that takes you to the outermost reaches of North America.
UNESCO World Heritage sites: Gros Morne National Park and L’Anse aux Meadows National Historic Site of Canada
Partridge berry pie or conserve with ice cream
Warm and welcoming people everywhere!

Make your plans now to come to St. John’s in 2014. Take the time before or after Conference to tour the province and enjoy the hospitality. Conference and hotel registration forms are available on http://ostomycanada.ca/events/biennial_ ... ce_of_uoac
